Tigers Celebrate Three All-Star Starters in Historic 2025 Game

The 2025 MLB All-Star Game is fast approaching, and excitement is building as the Tigers celebrate their first three starters since 2007. Outfielders Riley Greene and Javier Báez and second baseman Gleyber Torres have made the cut after winning fan votes for their respective positions.
Greene, just 24, is marking his second All-Star selection and first career start, thanks to a standout season. After hitting two home runs in a recent game against the Nationals, he is currently second among American League outfielders with 21 home runs and a .903 OPS.
Báez, known for his versatility, also brings an inspiring narrative to the All-Star Game. A former All-Star with the Cubs, Báez will make history as the first player to start in both the All-Star Game and various positions, including center field during this season.
Last year, Báez struggled with a .184 batting average and lost his starting job, but he’s rebounded this season, now batting .285 with 11 home runs and a strong performance behind the plate after shifting positions multiple times.
“In this game, there are a lot of ups and downs, and I’ve been down many times,” said Báez. “I never kept my head down. I kept working.”
Torres, signed this winter, is enjoying a resurgent year as well. Batting .280 with an .818 OPS, he ranks first among American League second basemen in fWAR and is the only AL player to have more walks than strikeouts.
“It’s going to be an honor, for sure,” Torres said about returning to the All-Star Game. “I really appreciate the fans who voted for me. It’s going to be fun for my family.”
The Tigers haven’t had three starters since Pudge Rodriguez, Placido Polanco, and Miguel Cabrera in 2007. They could potentially have four All-Stars if pitcher Tarik Skubal is also selected.
Fans eagerly await the announcement of the full roster for the All-Star Game, slated for July 6 at Truist Park.
