Tim Allen Last Man Standing Reunion Shifting Gears

LOS ANGELES, CA — Tim Allen‘s latest sitcom, ABC‘s “Shifting Gears,” has delighted fans with a special Valentine’s Day episode featuring Nancy Travis, marking a reunion of the stars from “Last Man Standing.” In this episode, Travis’ character, Charlotte, shares a heartfelt moment with Matt, Allen’s widowed character, bringing a touch of nostalgia to the show.

During a recent interview, Travis expressed her enthusiasm for returning to the set alongside Allen. While she noted she does not foresee herself reprising her former role as Allen’s on-screen wife, she remains open to returning as Charlotte if the character’s storyline takes an interesting direction. “I think it’d be great to have a sitcom like this with two non-married adult characters of the opposite sex who become BFFs without any lovey-dovey complications,” Travis said.

As the conversation shifted to future guest appearances, Travis hinted at the possibility of Kaitlin Dever and other former co-stars making their way back into the lives of Matt and Riley, Allen’s character who is central to the new sitcom. “It would be fantastic to have some of the old faces come back,” she remarked.

Travis was the first to join Allen in the new series, but she is not expected to be the last. Other former cast members are rumored to be returning, adding to the excitement surrounding the series. “We will be here waiting and watching for all of those characters to show up. How cool would it be if there was some kind of a car show, and all of the attendees were actors from past projects?” she mentioned while smiling.

The show, produced by Michelle Nader, who worked on “2 Broke Girls,” carries a creative legacy forward. While the connection to “Last Man Standing” is apparent, the writers are keen to develop new stories that feel fresh while honoring the past.

With new episodes airing nightly on ABC at 8 p.m. ET, fans are encouraged to tune in to catch all the unfolding drama, laughter, and, potentially, even more surprise reunions. “Shifting Gears” is now available for streaming the following day, adding convenience for those who wish to watch on-demand.
