Tim David T20 International Record

Basseterre, Saint Kitts

Tim David made history by scoring the fastest T20 International century by an Australian during a match against the West Indies on July 25, 2025. Australia chased a target of 215 runs and won by six wickets, securing a 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

David reached his century in just 37 balls, hitting 11 sixes and six fours, and finished his innings at 102 not out. His explosive performance came at Warner Park, where he dominated the West Indies’ bowlers, especially during a three-over assault that included four consecutive sixes off spinner Gudakesh Motie.

“I was just having a great time. I didn’t think I would get the opportunity to get a hundred for Australia, so I’m stoked,” David said after the match. His knock is now the joint third fastest T20I century among teams in the International Cricket Council.

Earlier in the match, the West Indies set a strong foundation with their openers Shai Hope and Brandon King contributing 214 runs in 20 overs. Hope scored 102 runs off 57 balls, while King added 62 runs off 36 balls.

Despite a shaky start, with Australia at 61-3, David’s aggressive batting led them to victory, as Australia reached their target in just 17 overs with 23 balls to spare. The win marked Australia’s 10th victory in their last 11 T20Is.

“There are no words for that innings from David,” said Australian captain Mitchell Marsh, reflecting on the significance of David’s performance. The series continues with two more matches scheduled in the coming days.
