Tim Tebow and Demi-Leigh Expecting First Child: ‘Over the Moon’

DALLAS, Texas — Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow and his wife, Demi-Leigh Tebow, are expecting their first child together, the couple revealed exclusively to PEOPLE. The announcement comes as the pair prepares to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary on Jan. 20, 2025.

“We are just so excited and so over the moon to be having a baby together,” Demi-Leigh, 29, told PEOPLE. The former Miss Universe, who is 16 weeks pregnant, shared her joy about embarking on parenthood with her husband, 37. “I’m so grateful because I just couldn’t imagine a better life partner to do life with first and foremost,” she added.

Tim, who retired from professional football and now works in sports broadcasting, expressed his excitement about becoming a father. “I’m honored for the privilege of getting the responsibility and the joy of being mom and dad,” he said. The couple, who married in January 2020 after a three-year engagement, emphasized the strong foundation they’ve built over the years.

Demi-Leigh reflected on her pregnancy journey, noting that while her first trimester was challenging, she has grown to appreciate the experience. “I have loved being pregnant… I have gained the absolute just new respect for moms, especially moms that are working,” she said. Tim, meanwhile, shared how the news of impending fatherhood has reshaped his priorities. “It’s just amazing how it also reprioritizes and changes what you put an emphasis on and what you value most,” he explained.

The couple also took the opportunity to praise each other’s parenting potential. Tim described Demi-Leigh as a “fierce defender and protector,” adding, “When she sets her mind to something, she goes all the way in — and I know that she will do that as a mom, too.” Demi-Leigh, in turn, highlighted Tim’s thoughtfulness and wisdom. “I just think that he’s one of the wisest people I have met,” she said.

As they prepare for this new chapter, the Tebows are focused on bringing the lessons they’ve learned in their marriage into parenthood. “We’ve built deep friendship and roots in our relationship,” Tim said. “We’re ready to take that into raising our child.”
