Today Show Sheinelle Jones Husband Death

New York, NY — Sheinelle Jones, a co-host of the NBC’s Today Show, announced the heartbreaking passing of her husband, Uche Ojeh, at the age of 45 due to glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. The news was confirmed during Friday’s live broadcast of Today.

During the emotional segment, co-anchors Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin, Dylan Dreyer, and Al Roker gathered to share their support for Jones, who has been absent from the show since mid-December 2024. Savannah expressed, “There are no words for the pain that we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children. Uche was an incredible person. We all loved him. … We just want to tell Sheinelle, Kayin, Uche and Clara and the Ojeh family: we are with you, we love you. You are our family and we’re just sending all of our love to you right now.”

In an additional tribute, Craig reflected on Uche’s devotion to family, saying, “He loved those kids more than anything else in this world, and was just so proud. He was that dad that was on the sideline of every soccer game. He was at all of the concerts and the recitals. He was that guy.” Jones and Ojeh were married for 18 years and have three children: Kayin, 15, and fraternal twins Clara and Uche, 12.

Sheinelle first shared news of her hiatus from the show in January, stating she needed time to address a family health matter. In a heartfelt Instagram message, she expressed gratitude for the support from her Today family and fans. “I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon,” she wrote.

Uche Ojeh was a managing partner at UAO Consulting and met Sheinelle while both were studying at Northwestern University in the late 1990s. Following Uche’s diagnosis, Sheinelle received an outpouring of love from the audience and colleagues, who have expressed their heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.
