Tony Hawk Forces Inclusion of Bam Margera in Pro Skater 3+4 Remake

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Activision‘s upcoming release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 has stirred excitement in the gaming community, especially with the recent revelation that skater Bam Margera will join the roster, thanks to intervention from Tony Hawk himself. The game is set to launch on July 11, 2025.
Initially, when Activision revealed the list of playable skaters, Margera was notably absent, raising eyebrows among fans who remember his significant role in the original games and his appearances on MTV’s Jackass and Viva La Bam. According to Roger Bagley, co-host of The Nine Club podcast, Hawk personally advocated for Margera’s last-minute inclusion after hearing concerns from fans.
“The game was already done,” Bagley explained during a livestream. “Tony called up Activision and was like, ‘Hey, we’re putting Bam in the thing,’ and they were like, ‘Hey, we can’t.’ He goes, ‘No, you’re gonna do it,’” Bagley recounted. This led to Activision arranging for Margera to be body-scanned and added to the game.
As a beloved figure in the skateboarding world, Margera’s absence had sparked debates among fans regarding the impact of his prior legal and personal issues on his inclusion. He has faced substance abuse challenges in recent years, resulting in his departure from Jackass Forever last year. Despite these setbacks, Margera’s resurgence with support from Hawk offers a hopeful narrative for fans.
“This might be news that’s not out there yet, though?” Roberts inquired during the podcast. Bagley replied, “Probably.” This feedback demonstrates the enthusiasm surrounding the playful yet competitive world of Tony Hawk’s video games.
The Pro Skater series is known for delivering a nostalgic experience, coupling skill-based gameplay with iconic soundtracks that introduced many players to rock legends. Fans expect the remastered tracks from the original games to return with the remake, alongside classic locations and gameplay dynamics.
The excitement builds for the game’s launch, with cross-platform online multiplayer capabilities and early access available to those purchasing the Digital Deluxe and Collector’s Editions. As fans await the return of Margera alongside his fellow pro skaters, the skateboarding community remains optimistic about the impact of this nostalgic outing.
