Travel Guides Explore the Spooky Side of Newcastle: A Haunting Adventure in Australia’s Oldest Gaol

This week, the Travel Guides embarked on a thrilling journey to Newcastle, Australia‘s second oldest city, located north of Sydney. The Fren family, along with Matt and Brett, joined forces with best mates Kevin and Cathy to uncover the hidden gems of their hometown.

Not far from Newcastle is Maitland, a growing city that houses the historic Maitland Gaol, which dates back to 1848. The gaol, once home to notorious criminals like Ivan Milat and Neddy Smith, now offers spooky tours, including the Paranormal Investigations that take place after dark.

During their visit, the Fren family ventured into the dark basement of the old Lieutenant-Governor’s house, where they experienced a bone-chilling séance. Victoria‘s apprehension was palpable, and the eerie atmosphere left them shaken.

For a different perspective on Newcastle, the group took to the waters with the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club, attempting to steer their own boat. While Kevin embraced the challenge, the others found themselves in a hilarious video fail.

Additionally, the Fren family faced more thrills at the Stockton Bight sand dunes, where Sand Dune Adventures offered high-speed tours on the largest coastal dunes in the Southern Hemisphere. The adrenaline-pumping experience included a heart-stopping 50-meter drop that left Victoria terrified but Kevin exhilarated.

As the Travel Guides wrap up their Australian adventure, the question remains: can their next trip surpass the spooky and exhilarating escapades in Newcastle and its surroundings? Tune in to the upcoming special episode to find out!

Travel Guides airs on Channel 9, with new episodes premiering on Mondays and Sundays. Stay tuned for more exciting escapades and unexpected twists from the Fren family and their fellow guides.
