PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner will return to the lineup for the regular-season finale against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Manager Rob Thomson confirmed Turner’s activation from the injured list after he missed nearly three weeks due to a strained right hamstring.

Turner has not played since September 7, but the Phillies stated he was on track for a return ahead of the playoffs. During a press conference, Thomson noted that Turner will play shortstop but may not complete the full nine innings. “Now, don’t be shocked if he comes out early,” Thomson said.

As the National League East champions, the Phillies are already locked into the No. 2 seed for the upcoming playoffs, providing an opportunity for Turner to reacclimate. Leading the National League in batting average at .305, Turner has accumulated 15 home runs, 69 RBIs, and 36 stolen bases in 140 games this season.

In a corresponding move, right-hander Max Lazar was optioned to the rookie-level Florida Complex League Phillies. This comes after the Phillies’ recent loss to the Twins, which ended 5-0, securing their playoff position.

Turner’s return comes just in time for the postseason, where the Phillies will begin their National League Division Series on October 4. His presence in the lineup is expected to provide a significant boost to the team as they look to advance further in the playoffs.
