Trevon Diggs Out for Sunday Night Football Against Washington

DALLAS, Texas – Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs will miss Sunday Night Football against the Washington Commanders due to a concussion. Coach Brian Schottenheimer confirmed that Diggs suffered an accident at his home on Saturday night, resulting in the injury.
“He won’t play Sunday,” Schottenheimer said, as reported by Jon Machota of The Athletic. The exact details of the accident remain unclear, but Diggs will need to enter the league’s concussion protocol before he can return to the field.
This loss adds to the Cowboys’ challenges as they continue to struggle with defensive consistency. Despite these setbacks, quarterback Dak Prescott noted improvements on the offensive side. “That’s my standard. That’s our standard. I feel like I need to score every time,” Prescott stated.
Although the Cowboys are having a solid season, they face questions about their balance, needing to improve their defense while maintaining scoring efficiency. After linebacker Micah Parsons departed for the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys have struggled to fill the void left in their defense.
Diggs’ absence further complicates matters, as he has been crucial to the Cowboys’ secondary. His injury raises concerns about the unit’s ability to defend against deep passes.
As the game against Washington approaches, Schottenheimer and his staff must now depend on younger cornerbacks to step up. The defensive coordinator emphasized the need for improved accountability and discipline to keep the team competitive.
Despite the uncertainty, there remains confidence within the locker room. Players believe they can still navigate through these difficulties, but the upcoming matchup against Washington presents another major test for the team.
