Terry Snow, a prominent businessman from Canberra and a well-known philanthropist, has passed away at the age of 80. According to a family statement, he died of natural causes.

Terry leaves behind an impressive legacy marked by key projects that changed Canberra’s landscape. His work included major developments like Canberra Airport, Airport Business Parks, Constitution Place, and Denman Prospect.

Born into a family with deep roots in the region, Terry was known for his innovative approach and dedication to quality. He notably transformed the Canberra Airport precinct into a leading aviation hub after acquiring it from the Federal Government in 1998.

In 2023, he was recognized as Australia’s 28th richest person, boasting a net worth of $3.9 billion. His philanthropic efforts were particularly highlighted when he donated $20 million to Canberra Grammar School, which funded the creation of the Snow Concert Hall and other facilities.

The Snow Foundation, which Terry co-founded in 1991, initially focused on helping the Canberra community before expanding its reach across Australia. His philanthropy was driven by a commitment to social responsibility.

Outside of business and philanthropy, Terry had an adventurous spirit. He purchased land to build a world-class equestrian center and took up horse riding at 65, proving it’s never too late to start something new.

Terry enjoyed a variety of hobbies including fishing, bushwalking, and flying planes. He even cycled across Australia and sailed around the country, showing just how vibrant and full of life he was.

He is survived by his wife Ginette, their three children, and 14 grandchildren, leaving a profound impact on his family and the community around him.
