Trump Ryder Cup 2025

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — President Donald Trump arrived at Bethpage Black Friday morning to participate in the Ryder Cup, the prestigious golf tournament featuring the best players from the U.S. competing against their European counterparts.

The tournament commenced early on Friday at one of golf’s most challenging courses. The Ryder Cup alternates between U.S. and European venues every two years, with this year’s competition taking place in New York.

Tight security was evident as thousands of fans filled the stands around the course, eager to watch the action unfold. Trump expressed his excitement about attending the event, stating, “I’m going to go for a little while to represent the United States at the Ryder Cup, which is very exciting, and we’ll be watching that.” He was joined by his granddaughter, Kai, during this outing.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, an anchor for the American team, shared that Trump’s presence would provide a morale boost. “It’s been a tough few weeks for our country with some of the stuff that’s been going on, and to have our president here… is extremely important for us,” Scheffler remarked.

The tournament features team matches on Friday and Saturday, culminating in one-on-one matches on Sunday. Trump arrived just as the final match of the morning session was underway, while the American team sought to regain momentum after losing the first three contests.

As an avid golfer and owner of numerous championship courses, Trump has remained actively involved in the sport since his return to office. His Florida course, Trump National Doral Miami, hosted an LIV Golf tour event in April, further highlighting his commitment to golf.

The European team currently holds the Ryder Cup title after defeating the Americans in Rome in 2023, having won the last four editions of the tournament.

“This first tee at Bethpage is going to be a sporting event to remember,” U.S. team captain Keegan Bradley said, expressing the impact of Trump’s attendance. “I really think it’s going to be something that everyone will remember forever.”
