Seth Meyers Late Night Nbc

LOS ANGELES, CA — President Donald Trump took to social media this weekend, demanding that NBC fire late night host Seth Meyers. On November 15, Trump criticized Meyers, calling him “talentless” and attributing his show’s poor ratings to what he termed an “incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).”

Meyers has frequently targeted Trump in his monologues, with recent jokes poking fun at a decline in Republican support for the president and his comments about a workforce shortage in the U.S. Trump’s attack on Meyers follows similar criticisms against other late night hosts, including Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel.

“NBC’s Seth Meyers is suffering from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS),” Trump posted on his platform, Truth Social. He further claimed, “Meyers has no talent, and NBC should fire him, IMMEDIATELY!”

Brendan Carr, chairperson of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), shared Trump’s comments on social media. As the federal agency that regulates broadcasting, Carr’s repost drew backlash. Lisa Macpherson, policy director at Public Knowledge, emailed NPR, criticizing Carr’s action as “a distortion of the FCC’s authorities.”

Former congressman Justin Amash also weighed in on X, asserting that the government should not pressure companies regarding the content of late night hosts. “The government shouldn’t be pressuring companies with respect to late night hosts, comedians, or anyone else for monologues, commentary, or jokes,” he stated.

Previously, after Trump called for Colbert’s firing, CBS announced that The Late Show with Colbert would conclude in May 2026 due to financial reasons. Meyers’ program, Late Night with Seth Meyers, is produced by NBCUniversal, which is owned by Comcast.

NPR has reached out to both NBCUniversal and the FCC for comments regarding the recent developments.
