Tulane Green Wave Football Team Temple Owls

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Tulane Green Wave, ranked No. 24 in the College Football Playoff, aims to secure a spot in the American Championship game as they face the Temple Owls on Saturday afternoon. With a record of 8-2, Tulane is currently the top-ranked Group of 5 team.

Last week, Tulane improved their conference record to 5-1 after defeating Florida Atlantic, 35-24. The Green Wave never trailed in that game. Quarterback Jake Retzlaff completed 18 of 27 passes for 241 yards, recording two touchdowns along with one interception, and added a rushing touchdown. Running back Jamauri McClure carried for 94 yards and a TD on ten attempts. Receivers Bryce Bohanon and Anthony Miller caught touchdown passes, while the defense showcased strong play with interceptions by Isaiah Wadsworth, Jahiem Johnson, and Bailey Despainie.

In contrast, Temple returns to the field after a bye week and two consecutive losses, needing a victory to become bowl eligible. Their last outing resulted in a narrow 14-13 loss against Army on November 8. Quarterback Evan Simon has thrown for 1,848 yards with 22 touchdowns and only one interception this season. Jay Ducker leads the rushing attack with 729 yards and six touchdowns, while wide receivers Jojo Bermudez and Peter Clarke have contributed four TD receptions each.

The Green Wave has claimed victory in their last two encounters with Temple, including a dominant 52-6 win at home on November 9, 2024. Despite this, Temple leads the all-time series, 4-3.
