Turnpike Troubadours Set to Release New Album Ahead of Concert Series

STILLWATER, Okla. — The Turnpike Troubadours are preparing for the release of their new album, The Price of Admission, on April 11, just as they gear up to perform at the highly anticipated “Boys from Oklahoma” concert series at Boone Pickens Stadium.
The album’s promotional strategy has thrived on fan-driven excitement, similar to the buzz surrounding their previous album, A Cat in the Rain, released after a hiatus in 2021. In the lead-up to the new album, the band has engaged fans through strategic leaks, including the unveiling of their song “Be Here” via TouchTunes.
On April 8, the band officially announced the album via social media, alongside details of the concert set. This new eleven-song collection was produced by Shooter Jennings, who previously worked on their last album. This time, however, the recording took place at Jennings’ studio at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles.
Evan Felker remains the principal songwriter for the new record, collaborating with notable artists such as Ketch Secor from Old Crow Medicine Show, John Fullbright, and Dave Simonett of Trampled by Turtles. Additionally, Felker co-wrote a track with Kyle Nix, the band’s fiddle player, who also contributed a song to the mix.
A blend of reflective and rowdy tones, the album promises to feature slow, songwriter-driven tracks in its first half, followed by more upbeat selections. Notably, The Price of Admission will not have physical copies available initially, likely due to the rushed schedule to coincide with their concert performances.
The “Boys from Oklahoma” concert event is set to take place from April 10 to 13, with expectations to draw more than 180,000 attendees to Stillwater. This series marks the Turnpike Troubadours’ first full concerts together in over a decade, alongside fellow artists like Cross Canadian Ragweed, Stoney LaRue, and Jason Boland.
“We are beyond excited to be performing for our fans again,” said Felker. “This album holds a lot of significance, not just for us but for everyone who has been following our journey.”
Cross Canadian Ragweed, who formed in 1994, also announced a reunion after a 14-year hiatus. Their participation adds to the historic nature of this concert series, promising a deeply nostalgic experience for fans of Oklahoma’s Red Dirt music scene.
Fans can access the new album on streaming platforms starting April 11, while live shows will kick off that evening. The Turnpike Troubadours’ participation in the concert series serves as both a musical reunion and a celebratory event for the community.
The entire lineup for the first day includes: Stoney LaRue at 5:35 p.m., followed by Jason Boland at 6:25 p.m. and wrapping up with the Turnpike Troubadours at 8:15 p.m. culminating in Cross Canadian Ragweed at 10 p.m.
Tickets for the concert are all sold out, with some still available through third-party vendors. Fans are encouraged to arrange logistics ahead of time as the concert is expected to be a cashless event, meaning all transactions will require digital payment.
