Twitty & Lynn Cookin' Up Lovin' Video

For nearly a decade, musical duo Twitty & Lynn, comprising Michael Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn, have been performing together, paying tribute to their famous grandparents. Michael Tre Twitty is the grandson of Conway Twitty, while Tayla Lynn is the granddaughter of Loretta Lynn. Their recently released music video for the song “Cookin’ Up Lovin'” showcases their original music, which draws inspiration from the Sun Records era of country music, simultaneously honoring their heritage and establishing their own artistic identity.

The video, directed by Steve Jawn of 10:10 Creative, known for works such as Old Dominion’s “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart” and Miranda Lambert’s “Dark Bars,” channels the scene-setting style of Quentin Tarantino’s films, particularly the 2019 movie “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” The video depicts Twitty & Lynn as a quarreling couple, highlighted by their exaggerated bickering in the setting of an eccentric trailer park. Although not romantically involved in real life, the duo captures a lively dynamic in their portrayals.

The location for the music video was Marfa, Texas, a well-known artist community in the state’s western region. The “Cookin’ Up Lovin'” video was filmed at the colorful El Cosmico trailer park, which provided an ideal backdrop with its unique aesthetic. In the video, Lynn plays the role of a beleaguered wife dealing with the antics of her good-timing husband, played by Twitty, who returns home inebriated and soon leaves again in his 1969 Ford LTD. The video also features retro radio commercials for “Conway’s Auto Sales” and “Loretta’s Beauty Products,” adding to its nostalgic charm. In a nod to the area, the famed Marfa Prada installation makes a brief appearance.

Tayla Lynn remarked on the experience, stating, “We had an absolute blast filming. The town was so welcoming and had the most amazing vibe. It was the ideal backdrop for this song, and that’s all due to Tre scouting the location for us.” Tre Twitty discovered El Cosmico during a prior photoshoot in Marfa and proposed it as the filming location to their director.

“Cookin’ Up Lovin’,” written by Twitty & Lynn alongside Shelly Fairchild and Mark Narmore, serves as the title track of their most recent album, released earlier this spring.
