UFC’s First Qatar Card Features Tsarukyan vs. Hooker for Title Shot
DOHA, Qatar — The UFC makes its debut in Qatar on November 22, 2025, with a highly anticipated lightweight main event featuring Arman Tsarukyan and Dan Hooker. Both fighters are vying for a potential title shot in a division known for its intense competition and excitement.
Tsarukyan, the current top contender, is coming off a layoff due to a back injury. His record boasts four consecutive victories, including a notable knockout win against Beneil Dariush and a split decision victory over former champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 300. He was originally scheduled to fight Islam Makhachev for the title at UFC 311 but had to withdraw, a decision he acknowledged did not sit well with UFC president Dana White.
“Unfortunately, I couldn’t fight for the title, but still, I got a lot of experience from the pull-out,” Tsarukyan said, expressing excitement about returning to the Octagon. “I’m ready to fight and prove myself once again.”
Dan Hooker, with extensive experience in the UFC, stands as a formidable opponent. At 35, he has a vast repertoire of striking techniques, making him a dangerous competitor. Hooker enters the bout on a three-fight winning streak, including two split decision victories against top-ranked fighters. While his striking is elite, his grappling skills will be tested against Tsarukyan’s potent wrestling.
“He’s a good fighter. He’s dangerous on the feet, but on the ground, I think my game is way better,” Tsarukyan noted. “I can knock him out if I connect.”
The clash of styles sets up an intriguing matchup: a striker in Hooker versus a grappler in Tsarukyan. Each fighter has expressed confidence in their skills, making this bout not only a test for themselves but also a high-stakes fight with title implications.
The main event at ABHA Arena will kick off a card filled with thrilling fights, including a co-main event between former welterweight champion Belal Muhammad and rising star Ian Machado Garry. With momentum on the line, both Tsarukyan and Hooker are keen to solidify their status in the lightweight division.
The anticipation continues to build as fans eagerly await the action in Doha this weekend. Whether it’s the grappling finesse of Tsarukyan or the striking explosiveness of Hooker, this fight promises to deliver excitement as they both aim for championship glory.
