The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party in Gauteng has issued a statement disassociating itself from a woman who attempted to sign the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEC) code of conduct during an event in Kempton Park.

Mzukisi Ronyuza, the party’s Gauteng elections coordinator, clarified that the initial arrangement was for the Gauteng convener, Theophilus Nkani, to be the signatory of the pledge. However, a woman, who was present throughout the ceremony, unexpectedly approached the stage to affix her signature to the document. The incident was captured on video.

The woman’s actions have sparked confusion and raised concerns within the party, as it appears that she was not an official representative authorized to sign such documents on behalf of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party.

It was emphasized by Ronyuza that there have been multiple instances where individuals have surfaced, falsely claiming affiliation with the MK Party and attempting to partake in official proceedings without proper authorization or endorsement.
