University of Pretoria Offers Scholarships for Masters in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa
The Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria has announced scholarships for the Masters in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa program. The initiative, in partnership with 12 African universities, aims to empower individuals from various African countries with a passion for human rights.
The program, a one-year intensive course, involves six months of study in Pretoria and additional training at partner universities across Africa. Participants, selected based on academic excellence and human rights experience, receive comprehensive education from top lecturers.
The unique nature of the LLM/MPhil in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa equips graduates to work in diverse fields, including civil service, international organizations such as the African Union and the United Nations. Additionally, alumni form part of the HRDA Alumni Association, comprising 537 active members.
Prospective applicants for the scholarship program must demonstrate a strong academic background and a keen interest in human rights issues. Particularly, women, minority groups, and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply. 25 scholarships, funded by the European Union, will be awarded to successful candidates.
