USA and Guatemala Face Off in Gold Cup Semifinals

MIAMI — The United States men’s national soccer team (USMNT) is set to face Guatemala in an unprecedented matchup during the Gold Cup semifinals on Wednesday at Energizer Park in St. Louis, Missouri.
This marks the 17th appearance for the USMNT in the semifinals of the Gold Cup and their 13th consecutive time reaching this stage. They advanced by drawing 2-2 against Costa Rica and triumphing 4-3 in the penalty shootout, with Malik Tillman stepping up as a crucial player, recording three goals in the tournament.
Diego Luna and Max Arfsten contributed vital goals during regulation time, with Arfsten also providing an assist. Goalkeeper Matt Freese shone by saving three penalties, allowing Damion Downs to score the decisive penalty.
