The Vale Hotel Wins Channel 4 Competition On Four In A Bed

A hotel in Cricklade has emerged victorious in a televised competition on Channel 4, clinching the top spot on the popular show Four in a Bed.

The Vale Hotel in Cricklade claimed the winning title on the latest episode of the show aired on May 31.

The competition involved the managers of four competing hotels taking turns to stay at each other’s properties and then pricing their stay based on their experience.

The managers of the Vale Hotel, Iain Cox and Tayla Barnes, received the lowest underpayment percentage at 100%, securing the victory and being awarded a commemorative plaque.

“Winner winner chicken dinner,” quipped Tayla in excitement after the win.

According to Iain, the Vale Hotel is considered a budget hotel, offering rooms priced at £75 each.

While guests praised the cleanliness and natural light in the rooms, a couple named Nick and Tim did spot some issues in the bathrooms, noting dirt and traces of mold on fixtures.

Iain expressed disappointment at this feedback, as he prides himself on the hotel’s cleanliness, adding, “I’m not sure what more they expect for £75.”

Despite this setback, the hotel impressed in various aspects, especially with their hosting skills, with guests Karl and Rohini appreciating their banter and the excellent value provided for the price.

Karl and Rohini ended up overpaying by £5, with Rohini expressing extreme satisfaction with the experience and stating, “Well deserved.”

However, not all the relationships remained cordial, with disagreements arising over payment amounts, leading to some emotional moments and regrets. Ultimately, all tensions were resolved amicably, with champagne bottles popping and congratulations shared all around.

This season of Four in a Bed marked the first time the show featured hotels from different parts of the country, as opposed to being limited to a particular locality.

Following the competition, Iain and Tayla are no longer the managers, with hotel owners, Mark and Helen Ingle, resuming management responsibilities.

The Vale Hotel boasts two eateries, Jicsaw Thai Restaurant and Jambo Grill, serving Thai and Kenyan cuisine, respectively.
