Vanna White Takes Viewers on Heartfelt Tour of Her Hometown

North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – Vanna White took a sentimental journey back to her roots on the latest episode of “Wheel of Fortune,” which aired Monday, May 5. The 68-year-old cohost shared a behind-the-scenes video featuring her visit to her childhood hometown, allowing viewers to feel a connection to her past.
The clip began at Hoskin’s Restaurant, where White greeted locals with excitement. “Hi, everyone! I’m Vanna. Look at you all,” she said, prompting applause from the customers. She told them about an upcoming bus tour showcasing her childhood and significant places in her life. “I’m so excited for you guys to be a part of it, so thank you for joining me!”
Before boarding the bus, White enjoyed breakfast and reminisced about the waitresses from her past. She reunited with a waitress named Helen, expressing joy at their encounter. Once on the bus, White pointed out the welcome sign for North Myrtle Beach, proudly stating, “Welcome to North Myrtle Beach, home of Vanna White.” She described her hometown fondly, saying it reminds her of the greatness of her childhood.
During the tour, she stopped at the O.D. Pavilion, where she recalled dancing the Shag—South Carolina’s official dance. After showcasing her moves, White next visited Ocean Drive Elementary School. When asked what she was most proud of from her school years, she humorously answered, “Learning the alphabet.”
The route included passing the church where she was baptized, then arriving at her childhood home. White revealed that her father once operated a hot dog stand there. She joyfully hugged a boy named Johnny, discovering they share the same last name. “Isn’t that crazy?”
While White did not show the inside of her house on camera, she mentioned feeling nostalgic once she stepped inside. “I felt all of the memories from my childhood,” she said. A highlight of the tour was a visit to Painter’s Ice Cream, where she discovered a special ice cream named after her: The Vanna Banana Split. “No matter where life takes me, this will always be home,” she said, reflecting on her enduring connection to the area.
At the end of the clip, a fellow host asked if she knew the current residents of her childhood home. White replied, “I didn’t. What a surprise for them!”
