Veteran actor Michael Culver has passed away at the age of 85, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the realms of film and theatre. Culver, known for his iconic role in The Empire Strikes Back and appearances in Star Wars and other notable productions, succumbed to poor health on 27 February.
Described as a “classic English actor” by his agent Thomas Bowington, Culver’s career spanned over 50 years, featuring roles in Sherlock Holmes, A Passage to India, and Secret Army. His standout performance as Captain Lorth Needa in The Empire Strikes Back solidified his place in cinematic history.
Following a successful theatre run with Dundee Repertory Theatre in the late 1950s, Culver transitioned to Shakespeare productions at the Old Vic in London.
