Renowned Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi has taken on a new role as the host of Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8, following in the footsteps of Kamal Haasan. The announcement was made official in a promotional video shared across social media platforms, where Sethupathi appeared in a sharp silver suit and a clean-shaven look, capturing the attention of the audience.

“I understand your expectations. Now the stage is ready, the contestants are ready, and your new host is also ready,” Sethupathi declared confidently in the promotional clip. Fans of Bigg Boss Tamil have expressed excitement over this new development, with the actor bringing his distinctive charisma and energy to the show’s latest season.

The new season promises to present novel twists and heightened expectations among its audience. The promotional content was captioned on Instagram as “In a new angle… With a new strategy… #GrandLaunch of Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8 – Today evening at 6 in our Vijay TV.”

Previously, the show was anchored by veteran actor Kamal Haasan, who held the hosting responsibilities for the past seven seasons since its inception in 2017. However, in August 2024, Haasan announced his departure from the show, citing ‘prior cinematic commitments’ as the reason for stepping down. Despite the transition, many fans expressed their nostalgia for Haasan’s presence as host, as reflected in the comments on social media.

This season, Bigg Boss Tamil will air on Vijay Television and stream on the popular OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar. Approximately 16 contestants are expected to enter the Bigg Boss house on October 6, with additional wild-card participants joining as the season progresses.
