Virginia Cavaliers Set To Face Colorado State Rams In Ncaa First Four Matchup

The No. 10 seed University of Virginia Cavaliers are gearing up to take on the No. 10 seed Colorado State Rams in an NCAA Tournament First Four showdown. The highly-anticipated matchup is set to unfold on Tuesday, March 19, at UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio. Tipoff is scheduled for 9:10 p.m. and will be aired on truTV.

Both UVA and Colorado State secured at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament, marking a significant achievement for both teams. Notably, Virginia clinched its 12th consecutive postseason bid and received its second No. 10 seed in school history. Under the leadership of four-time ACC Coach of the Year, Tony Bennett, UVA has notched 23 or more wins for the 10th time.

With a neutral court record of 3-2, the Cavaliers have shown resilience away from their home base at John Paul Jones Arena. This game also marks a milestone for coach Tony Bennett, who will be coaching his 500th career game at Virginia.

The excitement doesn’t end there with the broadcast set to be televised on truTV and streamed live on NCAA March Madness Live. Fans can catch the action on the Virginia Sports Radio Network and Westwood One/NCAA Radio Network on SiriusXM as well.

Tony Bennett, the Dean and Markel Families Head Men’s Basketball Coach at UVA, has an impressive track record with a 364-135 record in 15 seasons at Virginia and a 433-168 career mark in 18 seasons overall. Bennett recently surpassed the late Terry Holland‘s record as UVA’s winningest coach and achieved his 400th win.

As the Cavaliers step onto the court for their 26th overall NCAA Tournament appearance, all eyes will be on their performance. UVA has a rich history in the NCAA Tournament, including a championship victory in 2019 and Final Four appearances in 1981 and 1984.

The game against Colorado State marks a first-time meeting between the two teams. UVA possesses a 7-3 all-time record against Mountain West Conference teams and has a significant history in the NCAA Tournament with an overall record of 35-24.

In their most recent outing, Virginia faced NC State in the ACC semifinals, where they fell to an overtime defeat. Despite the setback, UVA is poised to bounce back and deliver a strong performance against Colorado State in the NCAA First Four matchup.
