Mooney's Bookstore Pop Up Event New York

NEW YORK — Fans of the hit series “You” can commemorate the show’s final season with a blend of in-person and virtual experiences this month. The fifth and final season premieres on Netflix on April 24, and a special virtual screening event will take place on April 23, allowing global fans to catch a first look at the upcoming episodes.

The iconic Mooney’s Bookstore, fictionalized in the series, will host a pop-up event for fans at 489 Broome Street in New York on April 22 and 23 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET. Attendees will have the chance to participate in a literary scavenger hunt that includes exclusive merchandise and prizes, along with photo opportunities related to the series.

“We always said that we would stop after five seasons,” said You co-showrunner Michael Foley. “In a perfect world, we would bring Joe back home to New York. We loved the idea of things coming full circle for him.” Foley added that the returning character will showcase the transformation he has undergone since Season 1.

To complement the bookstore event, fans can RSVP for the digital fan event on Tudum, which will feature a live Q&A session with Penn Badgley, the actor who portrays Joe. This sneak peek session will also include a screening of the first episode of the final season.

“At the core of our final story for Joe is this dichotomy of the old and the new,” Foley said, reflecting on the protagonist’s journey throughout the series.

For fans outside of New York, numerous bookstores across the country will host their own scavenger hunts from April 16 to 23, offering access to the virtual screening and a variety of free merchandise.

The excitement doesn’t end there. The adaptation of Jane Austen‘s “Pride and Prejudice” is also set to grace screens in a new six-part limited series. Best-selling author Dolly Alderton and director Euros Lyn are teaming up to bring fresh perspectives to the classic story, aiming to appeal to both long-time fans and new audiences.

<p"Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story, and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it,” Alderton stated. The series promises to stay true to the original text while introducing modern sensibilities.

The cast includes Golden Globe winner Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet, BAFTA winner Jack Lowden as Mr. Darcy, and Academy Award winner Olivia Colman as Mrs. Bennet. Corrin expressed her excitement about bringing such an iconic character to life, noting the unique opportunity to work with a talented team.

The series begins production in the UK this year, with streaming set to follow on Netflix.

“We are delighted to be sharing this beloved British classic with our global audience,” said Netflix executive Mona Qureshi. “Dolly’s fierce intelligence and enormous heart, twinned with her genuine love of the Austen novel, means she is able to bring new insights, whilst celebrating all that the generations of fans hold so dear.”
