Voice Actor Confirms Persona 4 Remake Without Him

LOS ANGELES, CA — Voice actor Yuri Lowenthal revealed on BlueSky that he will not reprise his role as Yosuke in the upcoming Persona 4 remake. His announcement suggests that the remake, which had only been rumored until now, is likely underway.
Lowenthal posted, “And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake. I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back.” His statement was unexpected, as voice actors rarely discuss unconfirmed projects so openly.
The speculation about a Persona 4 remake has circulated for over a year, particularly following the release of Persona 3 Reload in 2024, which featured a new voice cast. Many fans were disheartened by the decision to recast characters in that game, hinting that Atlus may follow the same strategy for Persona 4.
If Lowenthal’s comments are to be taken at face value, it indicates that Atlus is continuing with its trend of changing voice actors for remakes. Although it hasn’t officially confirmed the new game, the situation seems to be aligning with how Persona 3’s remake was handled.
Polygon has reached out to both Lowenthal and Atlus for further comments regarding this news. The gaming community now anticipates potential announcements at events like the Summer Games Fest scheduled for June 8, 2025.
Fans express disappointment at the prospect of continuing the series without one of its original voice actors, while remaining hopeful for updates from Atlus about the rumored remake.
