Warriors Edge Lakers 111-103 in Preseason Clash
San Francisco, California — The Golden State Warriors defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 111-103 in an exciting preseason game at the Chase Center on Sunday.
The Warriors built a commanding lead early on, showcasing strong offensive and defensive play. Despite a late push by the Lakers, including an 11-0 scoring run, they could not overcome the deficit in the final minutes.
Both teams made several substitutions as the game progressed. The Warriors featured Jackson Rowe, LJ Cryer, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Pat Spencer, and Gui Santos to start the final quarter, while the Lakers brought in Nick Smith Jr., R.J. Davis, Anton Watson, Christian Koloko, and Dalton Knecht.
As the third quarter concluded, the Warriors led 102-80, fueled by a burst of scoring that included four three-pointers at the beginning of the quarter from Moses Moody and Brandin Podziemski.
The game had an engaging start, with the Lakers initially claiming a narrow lead after Deandre Ayton‘s free throw took them to 16-24. However, the turnover issues hindered their offense, allowing the Warriors to retake control.
Stephen Curry was a standout for the Warriors, delivering a series of three-pointers throughout the game. The first quarter closed with the Warriors narrowly leading 32-31, setting the stage for a competitive matchup.
For the Lakers, Bronny James and Dalton Knecht contributed actively, while Jarred Vanderbilt‘s defensive play was commendable in an effort to close the gap. The team had suffered a loss earlier in the preseason but showed improvement against a strong Warriors squad.
Lakers Coach praised his team’s performance, noting a need to improve consistency, especially after a strong first half and sustaining momentum throughout the game.
This match marked the preseason opener for both teams as they make their final preparations ahead of the NBA regular season.
