Warrnambool to Host Huge Music Event: triple j’s One Night Stand
Warrnambool is gearing up for its biggest music event ever, with triple j’s One Night Stand set to take over Friendly Societies Park on Saturday, September 14.
n
The event, which first launched in 2004 and ran annually until 2019, is making a strong comeback this year after the pandemic hiatus. It is expected to attract around 10,000 music lovers to the city.
n
Over 2,000 listeners submitted requests to triple j for the event to be held in their town, and Warrnambool was ultimately selected as the winner for 2024.
n
This year’s lineup features star performers including G Flip, Ruel, What So Not + Friends, Thelma Plum, Sycco, DICE, and a triple j Unearthed Competition Winner. More special guests will be announced soon.
n
Warrnambool Mayor Cr Ben Blain expressed his excitement, saying, “Warrnambool has a long and proud love of music. We’re also an events city, and I’m really excited to welcome so many people from far and wide to Warrnambool in September.”
n
He also highlighted how the One Night Stand model supports young music fans, with tickets priced at just $10, making it accessible for everyone to enjoy big-name acts.
n
As part of the festivities, the local council plans to deliver the Live and Local program to support Warrnambool’s local live music community. This includes hosting a Local Industry Forum on Thursday, September 12, leading up to the main event.
n
One Night Stand is an all-ages, drug-and-alcohol-free event, with all proceeds from ticket sales going to Support Act, a charity dedicated to supporting those in the Australian music industry. Tickets go on sale at 9am local time on Thursday, July 25, available at oztix.com.au.
