Washington State Cougars Football Vs San Jose State Spartans

Washington State University (WSU) is gearing up to host the San Jose State Spartans in a college football clash set for Friday night, September 20, at Gesa Field in Pullman, Washington. The game is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. PT and will be broadcast nationally on The CW.

The Cougars, who have had an impressive start to the 2024 season, enter the game with a 3-0 record. Their victories include a dominant 70-30 win over Portland State, a 37-16 win against Texas Tech at home, and a thrilling 24-19 victory in the Apple Cup against the University of Washington. Washington State is currently competing in the Pac-12 Conference, while their opponents, San Jose State, are part of the Mountain West Conference.

John Mateer, Washington State’s quarterback, has been a standout player, notably setting a university record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 197 yards during the game against Texas Tech. The Cougars’ potent offense, combined with a defense that forced four turnovers in the same game, highlights their strength this season. Additionally, in the Apple Cup against the University of Washington, Mateer rushed for two touchdowns, and the defense held their ground with a critical fourth-down stop to secure the win.

For fans unable to make it to Gesa Field, the game can be watched live on The CW. Viewers in Seattle can tune in to ARC Seattle – KUNS channel 51, while those in Spokane can watch on KSKN channel 22. The game will also be available on CW affiliate channels in other regions, including CW9 in Yakima-Tri-Cities and KRCW channel 32 in Portland.

In addition to television coverage, the game will be broadcast on the Cougar Sports Network from Learfield, which spans from Alaska to British Columbia, Oregon, and across Washington State. Worldwide streaming is available through the Varsity Network app and Sirius XM Satellite radio. Flagship radio stations include KXLY 920AM/100.7 FM in Spokane and KHTR 104.3 FM in Pullman. Select games can also be tuned into on KTTH 770 AM in Seattle.

This season marks the third year for head coach Jake Dickert, who has been credited with the team’s upward performance trajectory. The Cougars are looking to continue their winning streak against a strong San Jose State team, who also holds a 3-0 record. The game promises to be a test of skill and teamwork, with both teams striving to maintain their undefeated status.
