Water Levels Update in Mullaperiyar and Vaigai Dams

The latest updates on water levels show that the Mullaperiyar dam currently stands at 130.45 feet. This is well below the maximum permissible level of 142 feet. The dam is experiencing an inflow of 5,339 cusecs while discharging 1,311 cusecs.

Over at the Vaigai dam, levels are a bit lower at 55.38 feet, with the maximum level being 71 feet. This dam has an inflow of 1,913 cusecs and is discharging 969 cusecs.

Looking at the overall picture, the combined storage in the Periyar credit is reported to be 6,226.15 million cubic feet (mcft). This is a critical measurement as it reflects our water resources in the region.

In terms of rainfall, the last 24 hours brought varying amounts across different areas. The Mullaperiyar dam received 33.8 mm, while Thekkadi recorded 22.4 mm. Other areas like Gudalur saw 4.6 mm, and Veerapandi and Shanmuganadhi dam each received 2.4 mm. Uthamapalayam received 2.2 mm, and Peranai had 1 mm of rain.
