Wayne Brady Discusses Blended Family and Personal Growth on The Jennifer Hudson Show
Actor Wayne Brady, known for his charismatic presence and comedic talent, recently shared insights into his family life and personal growth during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show. Brady, aged 52, spoke candidly about the journey of his blended family, which includes his ex-wife Mandie Taketa, their 21-year-old daughter Maile, and Taketa’s partner, Jason Fordham.
On the episode aired Tuesday, October 8, Brady explained the role therapy has played in achieving harmony within their non-traditional family structure. “So much therapy,” Brady revealed, adding, “Therapy and family, and it feels amazing.” This open discussion was part of a promotion for their new reality show, which aims to depict their familial dynamic authentically.
Brady further disclosed that by openly addressing his mental health struggles, sexual identity as pansexual, and their unique family setup, he has experienced personal prosperity. “I feel that I’ve been able to prosper, personally,” Brady shared, emphasizing that his transparency has made him a better father and a more genuine person. “When you stop hiding things, you can truly be,” he noted.
In addition to co-parenting Maile, Brady has taken on a co-parenting role for Taketa and Fordham’s adopted son, Sullivan, who joined their family in September 2021. Brady credits Taketa with their successful co-parenting dynamic, stating, “She will deny this, but I think that Mandie is the crux of making this whole thing work.”
Brady’s family recently expanded with the addition of his son Val, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Tina. Despite the unexpected news of Tina’s pregnancy in 2022, Brady expressed his commitment to ensuring that Val feels “loved and valued.”
