North Georgia Weather Forecast

ATLANTA, Georgia — The 11Alive Weather Impact Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert for north Georgia on Thursday, September 25. A cold front is expected to move through the region in the morning, bringing showers and thunderstorms that will last through Friday.

Most areas in north and central Georgia are likely to receive around an inch of rain, with certain spots in the north possibly seeing up to two inches. This comes after Atlanta recorded only 0.02 inches of rain throughout the month, marking a prolonged dry spell.

According to meteorologists, even a modest chance of rain is significant given the current dry conditions. “The ground is parched, and this setup could finally bring some much-needed relief,” an 11Alive weather official noted.

As the cold front approaches, safety concerns arise, especially for drivers. Residents are advised to keep an eye on the forecast for their Thursday evening commutes and to allow extra travel time. “Slow down on wet roads, and stay weather-aware as storms roll through,” officials urge.

In addition to north Georgia, the WCNC Weather Impact Team in Charlotte, North Carolina, is also monitoring a similar weather pattern. Scattered storms are forecasted for the Piedmont area Thursday evening through Friday morning, potentially adding to the region’s drought relief.

As of now, meteorologists predict scattered storms will begin in the northern parts of Georgia and move southward into metro Atlanta by the afternoon. While not all areas will experience heavy rainfall, isolated storms could cause localized street flooding, prompting residents to be vigilant.
