A Week of Cultural Entertainment: Fugain’s Tour, Elisapie in Laval, RVQC Festival, and Cygnes Noirs Play
As the snow returns, offering its cold embrace, atuvu.ca presents four indoor cultural activities to warm your spirit. From February 19 to 25, 2024, consider attending Michel Fugain’s tour or catching Elisapie in Laval. Dive into the Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma festival or delve into the world of Cygnes Noirs at Théâtre Prospero.
Michel Fugain, the celebrated French singer, has returned for a Quebec tour this February, set to perform his iconic repertoire with his joyful ensemble. Catch him on February 20 at Théâtre Manuvie in Brossard, February 21 and 22 at Zénith Promutuel Assurances in Saint-Eustache, February 23 at Casino Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, and a final stop at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier in Place des Arts in Montréal on the 24th.
Notably, Inuk, the Inuk artist, is currently on tour following the release of her album ‘Inuktitut’ in September 2023. She reimagines classic rock and pop songs from the 60s to 90s in Inuktitut, her mother tongue. Join her at Salle André-Mathieu in Laval on February 24 and watch out for her upcoming gigs in Quebec and France, including a stint at Quebec’s festival this summer.
The Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma (RVQC), dedicated to Quebec cinema, marks its 42nd edition from February 21 to March 2 in Montreal. Explore over 200 films, including 52 premieres, offering a diverse selection of Quebec productions like ‘Lucy Grizzli Sophie,’ ‘Les chambres rouges,’ and ‘Ru.’ Additionally, the cult classic ‘Dans une galaxie près de chez vous’ will be screened on February 23 at Cineplex Odéon Quartier latin.
‘Cygnes Noirs,’ penned by Christina Kettering and staged by Prospero Theatre, delves into the complex human-machine dynamics, questioning moral and ethical behavior in androids. The play humorously discusses caregiving for the elderly and probes the limits of artificial intelligence. Originally scheduled from February 20 to March 9, the play has extended dates from March 12 to 14.
