Week 6 Fantasy Football Showdown: Smith vs. Robinson

Wan'dale Robinson Devonta Smith Fantasy Football

PHILADELPHIA, PA — As the NFL season reaches week six, fantasy football owners face tough decisions regarding wide receivers Wan’Dale Robinson of the New York Giants and DeVonta Smith of the Philadelphia Eagles. Both players have had inconsistent performances this season, making it hard for managers to decide their starting lineups.

Robinson has emerged as the Giants’ top receiver in recent weeks, particularly in the absence of Malik Nabers, who is out for the season. Last week, however, Robinson could only manage five catches for 30 yards against the New Orleans Saints, the second-lowest yardage he has recorded this season. The injury status of fellow receiver Darius Slayton adds to Robinson’s potential workload. Slayton suffered a hamstring injury during week five, and his participation in practice leading into the match against the Eagles appears uncertain.

The Giants will square off against the Eagles on Thursday night, and while Philadelphia’s defense includes strong secondary players, they have shown vulnerability. In their last three contests, the Eagles’ defense has allowed receivers to accumulate more than 85 yards, including performances from WR1s Puka Nacua and Courtland Sutton.

Meanwhile, Smith has struggled with his consistency this season. Averaging just 39.5 receiving yards in the first four weeks, Smith rebounded a bit in week five, achieving 114 yards against the Denver Broncos. Prior to that, he had fallen to an average of 75.8 yards per game last season. Facing the Giants defense, which yields the ninth-most passing yards per game, Smith might find opportunities for significant yardage if the Eagles maintain a competitive game script.

Despite Smith’s potential return to form, the Eagles’ offense has been running more this season, leading to fewer passing opportunities. With a line currently set at Eagles -7.5, there is a chance that Philadelphia will heavily rely on their run game and Saquon Barkley, especially if they gain an early lead. This scenario could limit Smith’s chances to perform well in fantasy.

Based on recent analysis, fantasy experts suggest that Robinson should be started in week six, given his increased target potential with Slayton’s status in question and the Eagles’ propensity to allow big plays through the air. Conversely, Smith is considered a sit, likely to experience fewer targets as the Eagles may lean more heavily on their rushing attack during the matchup.
