Welsh Actor Joins St David’s Day Charity Event at Cardiff and London Railway Stations
Renowned Welsh actor Mark Lewis Jones was among the participants at a special St David’s Day charity event that took place at both Cardiff Central and London Paddington railway stations today. The event, organized by the Wales-based charity Tenovus Cancer Care, aimed to raise awareness and spread joy on this significant day in the Welsh calendar.
Volunteers and staff from Tenovus Cancer Care surprised hundreds of commuters with the gift of daffodils, a symbol synonymous with Wales, as a gesture reflecting the teachings of St David to ‘Do the little things in life.’ Among the recipients of these daffodils was the esteemed Welsh actor, Mark Lewis Jones, who graciously acknowledged the charity’s efforts.
The daffodil distribution took place simultaneously at both Cardiff Central and London Paddington railway stations from the early hours of the morning, brightening the day of many individuals traveling to and from these bustling hubs. Each daffodil was accompanied by a small card containing a heartfelt St David’s Day message from Tenovus Cancer Care and information about the charity’s vital Support Line.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, the charity’s Cardiff Sing with Us choir enthralled shoppers and passersby with their melodic performances at Cardiff’s popular department store, John Lewis, further embracing the spirit of St David’s Day and Welsh culture.
“Doing the little things” was the theme of the day for Tenovus Cancer Care, as Head of Fundraising, Sion Edwards, expressed their desire to commemorate this special Welsh occasion with acts of kindness and generosity. Edwards emphasized the importance of simple gestures and the impact they can have on individuals, spreading positivity and awareness for the charity’s invaluable services.
Tenovus Cancer Care operates a dedicated Support Line, staffed by specialist advisors available every day of the year, offering support and assistance to anyone affected by cancer. The charity aims to reach out to as many individuals as possible, extending a helping hand and a listening ear to those in need.
