(Paris, France) — French rapper WeRenoi has reportedly died at the age of 31 from heart failure after being hospitalized in an emergency situation. The news surfaced on May 17, 2025, via social media influencer Aqababe and has since gained traction as more details have emerged.

According to sources, WeRenoi was admitted to Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in critical condition the evening before. His wife reportedly shared a cryptic story on Instagram, hinting at the tragedy of losing a loved one.

As of this morning, WeRenoi’s management has not confirmed the news, but a planned performance in Lyon for May 17 was abruptly canceled. Aqababe had previously reported on the rapper’s hospitalization, claiming to have received medical information from a hospital staff member. The rapper was said to have been hospitalized under a false name to protect his identity.

Details revealed that WeRenoi was struggling with a severe medical condition. He was suffering from hyperkalemia, which worsened into a Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID), leading to a first cardiac arrest. Despite being resuscitated, he fell into a coma. Reports indicate that he suffered a second, irretrievable cardiac arrest during the night.

WeRenoi, whose real name is Jérémy Bana Owona, emerged as a rising star in the French rap scene in recent years. He was named the male revelation of the year in 2023 and had continued to gain acclaim. With successful albums including “Carré,” “Pyramide,” and “Diamant Noir,” he collaborated with several prominent artists, such as Ninho and Damso.

The rap community and fans alike are mourning the loss of a talent that promised to shape the future of French music.
