Wes Anderson Building Unveiled at Germany’s Studio Babelsberg

BERLIN, Germany — Studio Babelsberg has honored renowned filmmaker Wes Anderson by naming a building on its lot the Wes Anderson Building. This ceremony took place on March 25, 2025, celebrating Anderson’s significant contributions to cinema and his relationship with the studio.
The newly designated Wes Anderson Building, formerly known as Haus 5, features essential offices and functional spaces dedicated to costume and production design. Anderson filmed his latest project, The Phoenician Scheme, at Babelsberg in 2024, adding to his impressive roster of works produced at this iconic studio.
Anderson’s history with Studio Babelsberg includes notable films such as Isle of Dogs, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Asteroid City. “Studio Babelsberg holds a special place in my heart, and I am thrilled to have this building bear my name,” said Anderson during the unveiling ceremony. “It’s a testament to the amazing work we produce here and the creativity that thrives in this space.”
Founded in 1912, Studio Babelsberg is one of the oldest film studios in the world and has housed numerous award-winning films and international productions. The studio continues to foster a collaborative environment and innovative film-making, attracting talents from around the globe.
The Wes Anderson Building serves as a reminder of the studio’s legacy and its integral role in shaping modern cinema. “Wes’ films are known for their unique visual style and storytelling,” said Studio Babelsberg CEO, Nils Tatum. “We are proud to have him as part of our family and look forward to many more projects together.”
In a related development, former NFL player Vernon Davis and choreographer Candice Bolden were announced to star in an upcoming fantasy drama titled The Masquerade, directed by Emmy-nominated Joslyn Rose Lyons. The project aims to blend elements of dance and magical realism, promising a captivating experience for viewers. The cast also features Ashley Haas, Deshuan Thompson, and former NFL star Omar Bolden.
