West Indies Struggle In Opening Session Against Australia In Adelaide Test

In a test match between Australia and West Indies at Adelaide Oval, the West Indies team struggled in the opening session as they lost two early wickets.

After winning the toss, West Indies decided to bat first. The opening batters managed to survive the initial onslaught from the Australian pace attack led by Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. However, first-change bowler Pat Cummins proved to be the difference-maker by removing both of West Indies’ top-order batsmen with his brilliant bowling.

The young duo of Kirk McKenzie and Alick Athanaze then tried to build a partnership and counter-attack the Australian attack. McKenzie played a confident shot, stepping down the track to spinner Nathan Lyon and hitting him for a boundary. Athanaze, a pupil of the legendary Brian Lara, also showed promise with a well-struck shot off Cummins for two runs.

However, the Australian captain, Pat Cummins, struck again as he dismissed West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite with a beautiful delivery that nipped back and shattered the stumps. Brathwaite had been struggling to find runs and his dismissal put the West Indies team in early trouble.

The West Indies continued to face difficulty as Nathan Lyon entered the attack and bowled a maiden over. With the Australian bowling attack maintaining pressure, the openers found it challenging to score runs and survived several close calls.
