Western Australian Honours List Recognizes Outstanding Community Service
In recognition of exceptional service and achievement in the community, the King’s Birthday 2024 Honours List celebrates 65 Western Australian award recipients. The announcement was made by the Governor-General and Chancellor of the Order of Australia, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), comprising a total of 737 awards, reflecting diversity in the community.
His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) is working towards ensuring that the Order acknowledges a variety of contributions, including nominations from underrepresented groups such as women, people from culturally and linguistically diverse groups (CALD), and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The final Honours List for Governor-General Hurley also includes a broad age range, with recipients ranging from 29 to 98 years old nationally.
The recipients are set to receive formal conferral of their honours at an Investiture Ceremony in September, which will be presided over by His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM, Governor of Western Australia. The honourees, ranging from Companions and Members to Medals like OAM, PSM, APM, AFSM, and more, cover a diverse array of exceptional service in various sectors.
Among the notable Western Australian awardees are individuals like The Honourable Mark McGowan, Suzanne Ardagh, Dr. Janice Bell, Vanessa Marie Elliott, Associate Professor Christine Jeffries, Denis McLeod, Sister Isobel Moran, Peter Rossdeutscher, Professor Una Ryan, Ray Sputore, and Peter Van Heerden, to name just a few.
