Wicked For Good Cynthia Erivo Ariana Grande Poster

HOLLYWOOD, California – Fans of the Wicked franchise received exciting news Wednesday, May 14, as Universal Pictures confirmed the premiere date of the highly-anticipated trailer for Wicked: For Good.

The announcement came alongside the release of the film’s first official poster on the Wicked Instagram account. The poster features leading actresses Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who portray Elphaba and Glinda, respectively. In the image, the two characters stand on opposing rocky cliffs, with a deep ravine separating them. Below, the iconic Yellow Brick Road leads to the Emerald City, which is visible on the horizon.

The poster’s tagline, “You will be changed,” references a lyric from the song “For Good,” performed by Elphaba and Glinda in the original Broadway musical.

Wicked: For Good is the sequel to Jon M. Chu‘s Wicked film, which premiered in November 2024 and has grossed more than any other adaptation of a Broadway musical, as reported on May 12. In the new poster, Erivo’s Elphaba dons her signature pointy hat and a dramatic black coat, while Grande’s Glinda wears a colorful ball gown and tiara.

The trailer will officially debut in theaters on June 4, coinciding with a one-night-only return of the first Wicked film in theaters across the United States and Canada. Erivo shared the news in a video, stating, “We know you’ve been waiting for this, and it’s finally coming.” Grande echoed the sentiment, adding, “You will be changed… For good.”

Tickets for the special screenings of the first film are already on sale. The film’s release comes just days after NBC announced a Wicked event featuring Erivo, Grande, and special guests in November.

The sequel’s plot will follow the aftermath of the first film, exploring themes of friendship and betrayal. Director Jon M. Chu described the narrative, stating, “It gets messy… If [audience members] are following the emotions of this movie, they’ll walk with us.”

Wicked: For Good’s release marks the continuation of a story that has captivated audiences since its Broadway debut in 2003, based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel. Fans are now eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see more of Elphaba and Glinda’s journey as they embrace their destinies.
