Will ‘Landman’ Return for Season 2? Cast and Creators Weigh In
As the first season of Taylor Sheridan‘s ‘Landman‘ on Paramount+ nears its finale, fans are eagerly speculating about the possibility of a second season. The show, which stars Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, and Jon Hamm, has garnered significant attention since its debut, with over 14.9 million viewers tuning in during its first four weeks.
Michelle Randolph, who plays Ainsley Norris, expressed enthusiasm for continuing the story. ‘I think there’s so much more of the story to tell,’ Randolph told Newsweek. ‘If we get to do a Season 2, I know that for a fact that everyone would be overjoyed to do that. I don’t think anyone wants to stop telling the story.’
Set in the oilfields of West Texas, ‘Landman’ is based on the documentary podcast ‘Boomtown‘ and follows the high-stakes world of oil drilling and corporate intrigue. The series has been praised for its gripping narrative and strong performances, particularly from Thornton, who plays crisis management executive Tommy Norris.
Demi Moore, who portrays Cami Miller, hinted at a second season during an interview with Deadline in May. ‘I’ve already completed the first season and I’m excited for us to start the second, which will be at the beginning of next year,’ Moore said. This statement has fueled speculation that production for Season 2 could begin as early as January 2025.
Billy Bob Thornton also expressed his commitment to the series, telling The Direct, ‘I’m signed up for it. Ten years ago, it wouldn’t have been fun for me. But there’s a different perception now. All the actors want to be in streaming now. That’s where you get to develop a character.’
While Paramount Network and Taylor Sheridan have yet to officially confirm a second season, the show’s strong ratings and Sheridan’s track record with hits like ‘Yellowstone’ and ‘1883’ suggest that a renewal is likely. Christian Wallace, co-creator of ‘Landman,’ also expressed interest in continuing the story. ‘As long as there are stories to tell, I would love to keep telling them,’ Wallace said.
With two episodes left in the first season, fans are on the edge of their seats. Episode 9, titled ‘WolfCamp,’ aired on January 5, 2025, and the finale, ‘The Crumbs of Hope,’ is set to premiere on January 12. The stakes are higher than ever for Tommy Norris and his family, as they navigate the dangerous world of oil drilling and corporate power struggles.
Fans have taken to social media to share their hopes for a second season. One fan tweeted, ‘I need a season 2 of Landman expeditiously,’ while another added, ‘Landman season one was good, hopefully they make a season 2 cause nowadays you never know with these new series.’
As the finale approaches, all eyes are on Paramount+ to see if ‘Landman’ will return for another season. Given the show’s popularity and the enthusiasm of its cast and creators, it seems likely that fans will get their wish.
