Will Smith Chris Rock Oscars 2022 Slap Incident

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Three years after the infamous Oscars slap, tensions between Will Smith and Chris Rock remain unresolved, with sources close to Smith claiming the actor still harbors resentment toward Rock for his “smug attitude” following the incident.

The feud began at the 94th Academy Awards in March 2022 when Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, referencing the film *G.I. Jane*. Smith, seemingly defending his wife, stormed the stage and slapped Rock, sparking a global debate about comedy, boundaries, and personal conduct.

According to a report by *InTouch Weekly*, Smith continues to blame Rock for the fallout that tarnished his reputation. “Will can’t stand Chris Rock and still holds him responsible for damaging his reputation,” a source told the outlet. “Chris has his own share of problems and seems to be alienating people around him, which Will finds satisfying. He feels like he’s finally getting the upper hand and relishing it.”

Despite winning the Best Actor Oscar that night for his role in *King Richard*, Smith faced significant consequences. He resigned from the Academy and was banned from its events for 10 years. While he apologized to the Academy during his acceptance speech, he notably did not extend the apology to Rock.

Rock, meanwhile, has repeatedly addressed the incident in his comedy shows, keeping the tension alive. In a recent interview with *CBS Mornings*, Jada Pinkett Smith reflected on the incident, calling it a “deep subject” and emphasizing her commitment to standing by her husband. “That’s Will’s story to tell, but I left that night more committed to standing by him,” she said.

Smith has since worked to rebuild his career, starring in the 2024 action-comedy *Bad Boys: Ride or Die*, the fourth installment in the popular franchise. However, the shadow of the Oscars slap continues to loom over his public image.

The incident remains a defining moment in both actors’ careers, with no signs of reconciliation in sight. As Rock continues to address the slap in his comedy routines and Smith reportedly relishes Rock’s struggles, the feud shows no signs of fading.
