Will Trent Season 3 Premieres with New Look and Challenges
ABC‘s hit crime drama ‘Will Trent‘ returns for its third season on January 7, 2025, with a fresh look and new challenges for its titular character. The season premiere, airing at 8pm ET, introduces a more relaxed Will Trent, played by Ramón Rodríguez, who has traded his signature suits for a casual wardrobe of t-shirts, jeans, and boots.
Season 3 picks up several months after Will arrested Angie, with the former Special Agent now living a quieter life away from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). Rodríguez, who also serves as an executive producer, explains that Will has taken time to reflect and distance himself from his past. ‘He’s pushed past certain things he normally doesn’t,’ Rodríguez says, including becoming more open about his dyslexia.
However, Will’s solitude is short-lived. Amanda, the deputy director of the GBI, tracks him down and urges him to return to the bureau. Despite his reservations, Will eventually makes his way back to Atlanta, where he finds that much has changed. Faith Mitchell, his former partner, now works with a new colleague, Special Agent Gross, played by Douglas Smith.
Co-showrunner Liz Heldens teases that Will’s return won’t be easy. ‘He abandoned Nico and Angie, and Faith and Amanda, and they’re all kind of pissed off at him,’ she says. ‘He’s going to have to do a lot of work in Season 3 to get back in everyone’s good graces.’
Rodríguez directed the Season 3 premiere, which promises to delve deeper into Will’s personal growth and professional challenges. Fans can catch the episode on ABC or stream it the following day on Hulu.
