Willem Dafoe Takes on New Roles in ‘Late Fame’ and ‘Nosferatu’
Acclaimed actor Willem Dafoe is set to star in two highly anticipated projects, showcasing his versatility and enduring presence in the film industry. In the upcoming film “Late Fame,” directed by Kent Jones, Dafoe will be joined by Greta Lee, known for her role in “Past Lives.” Lee replaces Sandra Hüller, who had to exit the project due to a scheduling conflict.
In another significant role, Dafoe is part of Robert Eggers’ adaptation of the classic vampire tale “Nosferatu.” This film, a loose retelling of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula,” features Dafoe as Prof. Albin Eberhart Von Franz, a character akin to Van Helsing. The movie also stars Bill Skarsgård as the vampire and Lily-Rose Depp as the young woman under his thrall. Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Emma Corrin are among the other notable cast members.
Eggers’ “Nosferatu” has been a long-standing passion project, initially announced in 2015. The film promises to deliver a Gothic tale of obsession and horror, consistent with Eggers’ previous works such as “The Witch,” “The Lighthouse,” and “The Northman”.
These new roles underscore Dafoe’s continued influence and adaptability in the film industry, following his critically acclaimed performances in films like “The Florida Project” and “Shadow of the Vampire”.
