William Levy Reflects on Grandmother Mima Two Years After Her Passing
MIAMI, FL — William Levy, the Cuban actor and model, recently opened up about his beloved grandmother, Mima, during an emotional interview with Vicky Martín Berrocal. The conversation aired as Levy paid tribute to Mima on the second anniversary of her passing.
In the interview, Levy shared personal memories that shaped his childhood in Cuba. He recalled the close bond he had with Mima, who played a pivotal role in his upbringing. “I grew up with her until I was 15. We shared a bed with my cousin and sister in a small home,” he said, reflecting on their life together.
The actor revealed how Mima still influences him, especially through music. “There are songs I listen to that remind me of her. ‘La Nave del Olvido’ by Julio Iglesias is one I cherish, as it brings back memories of her,” he explained. He often honors her memory by listening to the music they shared.
Levy also described the heart-wrenching moments as Mima approached the end of her life. He made every effort to be by her side, bringing her food after long days of filming in Miami. “She would always ask for me. I brought her chicken soup after work,” he shared, voice trembling with emotion.
During the conversation, Levy expressed gratitude for the time they spent together, emphasizing how meaningful it was. “I got to talk with her daily. Even when she couldn’t make it to my shows, I knew I was doing it for her,” he said. His desire to succeed in acting was driven by the wish to make her proud.
His heartfelt remarks highlight the profound impact Mima had on his life and career, noting that her presence continues to guide him even after her passing.
