DURHAM, N.C. — Wolfspeed, Inc. (NYSE: WOLF), a leader in silicon carbide technology, announced today the appointment of Robert Feurle as Chief Executive Officer, effective May 1, 2025. Feurle, an experienced executive with over 20 years in the semiconductor industry, will succeed Thomas Werner, who will transition to his role as Chairman of the Board after serving as interim Executive Chairman.

Feurle’s extensive background includes leadership positions at several notable semiconductor companies, most recently at ams-OSRAM AG as Executive Vice President and General Manager of its Opto Semiconductors Business Unit. During his tenure, he managed over 10,000 employees and spearheaded major market expansions in advanced LED technologies.

“We are excited to welcome Robert to Wolfspeed to lead the Company into its next chapter,” said Werner. “With a history of delivering significant operational enhancements and profitability improvements, we are confident that he is the right individual to take the helm during this stage in the Company’s lifecycle.”

Feurle’s focus for Wolfspeed will include enhancing financial performance, driving the company towards positive free cash flow, and strengthening its balance sheet. His appointment comes as the company seeks to navigate a transformative period following a restructuring and closure of certain facilities aimed at boosting profitability amidst declining orders across the automotive and industrial segments.

“During my time at Infineon Technologies, I developed a deep understanding of the silicon carbide industry,” Feurle said. “Wolfspeed’s world-class facilities, exceptional talent, and strong intellectual property are key assets in our journey toward maintaining and expanding market leadership.”

Feurle’s other significant past roles include positions at Infineon Technologies, Micron Technology, Qimonda, and Siemens, where he was known for implementing strategic initiatives that significantly enhanced competitiveness and revenue growth.

His leadership is timely as Wolfspeed capitalizes on the increasing global demand for silicon carbide technology, which is pivotal in sectors such as electric vehicles and renewable energy. The company has already made substantial investments in its 200-millimeter silicon carbide fabrication facility to enhance production efficiency.

As Feurle prepares to step into his role, he emphasized his confidence in facing the challenges ahead. “With all of the Company’s competitive advantages, I am certain that we will effectively refresh our operating plans, improve our financial performance, and accelerate our progress toward generating positive free cash flow,” he added.

Feurle holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Konstanz, Germany. Set to relocate to Wolfspeed’s headquarters in Durham, North Carolina, Feurle looks forward to fostering close collaboration with the Board and the talented team at Wolfspeed.
