Michigan Basketball Tcu Game Preview

Fort Worth, Texas – The University of Michigan men’s basketball team faces its first road test of the 2025-26 season when it travels to TCU on Friday night. The game at Schollmaier Arena is set to tip off at 9:01 p.m. ET (8:01 p.m. CT) and will air live on ESPN2 with Roxy Bernstein and Fran Fraschilla on commentary.

Michigan enters the matchup with a 2-0 record, having secured wins over their first two opponents. Meanwhile, the Horned Frogs of TCU have struggled recently, dropping their season opener to New Orleans but bouncing back with victories against Saint Francis and Lamar.

Last season, TCU finished with a record of 16-16 and missed out on the NCAA Tournament. A key concern for the team was its offensive performance, ranking 244th in assist-to-turnover ratio, 317th in scoring offense, and 336th in effective field goal percentage. To address these issues, the coaching staff prioritized improvements during the offseason, utilizing the Transfer Portal and relying on freshmen like David Punch, Jace Posey, Micah Robinson, and Malick Diallo.

In their last game, TCU’s lineup featured a 6-foot transfer from Providence, who scored a team-high 18 points in the narrow victory over Lamar. Another notable player is a 6-foot guard transferring from Maryland, who boasts a 9:1 assist-to-turnover ratio early in the season. Additionally, a second-year TCU forward has emerged as the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 14.0 points and 6.7 rebounds.

The Horned Frogs also welcome a top-ranked junior college transfer, known for his scoring ability in double figures throughout the season. However, TCU has faced challenges, including the loss of their starting center due to a torn ACL, significantly impacting their roster.

Michigan, ranked 16th in average height according to KenPom, is expected to leverage its size against TCU, which ranks 315th in this metric. The Wolverines look to capitalize on their height advantage, especially after employing a three-big lineup in a previous game against Wake Forest.

Despite recent struggles, KenPom projects a seven-point victory for Michigan in this road matchup. In terms of viewership details for fans, the game will air on ESPN2 at 8:01 p.m. CT, with Brian Boesch and Terry Mills covering the radio broadcast for the Learfield Michigan Sports Network.
