Woman Torn Between Husband and Best Friend After Argument

London, England — A woman is feeling caught in a conflict between her husband and her best friend after a recent argument. The incident occurred on Sunday, May 5, when she shared her experience on a UK-based online forum.
The woman said the tension began when her husband overheard her and her friend discussing their menstrual cycles before he left for the pub. “As my friend arrived, my husband was waiting for his friend to give him a lift,” she recounted. During this time, her friend made a light-hearted comment about him leaving, to which he replied in a way that made her friend uncomfortable, saying, “It’s bad enough when it’s my time of the month, let alone being in the house with two women.”
This derogatory comment sparked a heated exchange, with the friend labeling the husband as “sexist.” The woman explained that he reacted defensively, calling her friend “uptight” before exiting. Upon his return home, the husband expressed regret and offered to apologize directly to the friend. “I told my friend he was willing to apologize, but she refused to accept it and thinks he’s an idiot,” she said. “I feel stuck in the middle.”
When asking for advice, many forum users were divided on whether she should encourage her friend to accept the apology. Some supported the friend’s feelings, deeming the husband’s comments inappropriate. One commenter said, “I wouldn’t be impressed by a joke about my period, even if it was intended as humor.”
Others felt differently, suggesting the friend was being overly sensitive. “She started it with her comment, so he just responded in kind,” one said. A third user expressed concern over the husband’s character, stating, “It sounds like he has sexist views, and that’s not something that can be overlooked.”
The woman concluded her post in a state of uncertainty, hoping for clarity as the situation unfolded. “I just want the two important people in my life to resolve this,” she added.
