London, England – Xavi Simons expressed his commitment to continued hard work following Tottenham Hotspur‘s impressive 4-0 victory over FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

The midfielder showcased his talent, providing an assist and creating three significant chances, the most of any player in this season’s competition. He was awarded Player of the Match for his standout performance in 61 minutes at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Simons played a crucial role in the opening goal, delivering a superb pass to Brennan Johnson, who rounded the goalkeeper for a goal just 19 minutes into the match. Simons also created two additional opportunities for teammate Randal Kolo Muani, although Muani failed to score in the first half.

Simons was substituted shortly after the team’s second goal, scored by Wilson Odobert with an assist from Kolo Muani. This change came after Johnson received a red card five minutes earlier. Regardless, Simons delivered an impressive performance in the attacking midfield role.

“We enjoyed this game together with the fans, and the most important thing is three points,” Simons said. “I’m a guy that needs to enjoy playing football, and that’s what I do the most.”

Since joining Tottenham from RB Leipzig in the summer, the 22-year-old has shown glimpses of his skills, with Tuesday’s match marking his first assist in 11 appearances.

“You have to keep working hard, and every day is a new day, new challenge, and new opportunity to perform well,” he added. “I will always keep working hard and give my 100 percent to help the team.”

The match also featured excellent performances from other players, including Micky van de Ven, who received praise for his contribution to the team’s third goal. After the victory, Simons shared a lighthearted moment with van de Ven, joking about the pressures of being a forward.

“In the dressing room, I told him I would kill you if I was [Randal] on the right side [for not passing], but if he missed this one, I would definitely be mad,” he laughed. “Everyone knows how fast this guy is. I’m happy for him that he had this goal and we got the three points.”
