PALO ALTO, Calif. – Roku users experienced a baffling issue over the last 24 hours where the YouTube TV app vanished from their home screens. Many took to Reddit and Google forums to voice their frustrations on April 8, 2025, highlighting a widespread problem affecting the streaming service.
The sudden disappearance of the YouTube TV app left users unable to access one of their most favored platforms, prompting inquiries into its absence. According to multiple reports, the app was missing from various Roku devices, leaving users perplexed. Affected individuals found that attempts to redownload the app yielded no results, as it seemed entirely unavailable.
A Roku community moderator has suggested a workaround: updating the Roku operating system. Users have reported that checking for updates and installing a newer software version seems to restore the missing app. “If YouTube TV is missing, check for Roku OS updates,” the moderator advised. “In the meantime, we’re investigating the underlying issue,” they added.
While the root cause of this problem remains unclear, some speculate it could be related to how the Roku store interacts with outdated operating system versions. “It’s possible there’s a disconnect within the Roku store for older OS versions,” reported a spokesperson from 9to5Google.
